The session featured Fiona Brunton, Owner of Brunton Consultancy, who shared what businesses should be doing before the framework opens, followed by Belinda Brooke, Partner at JMW Solicitors, with a legal update for healthcare recruiters.
Here are five of the key takeaways from the discussion:
1. Start preparing for RM6397 now
While the framework has not yet been published, Fiona encouraged those affected to use the time available to review previous supply hours, update Bravo and Central Digital Platform records, check compliance documentation and ensure key requirements, including Cyber Essentials certification, will be in place ahead of the framework award.
2. Understand the qualifying criteria before deciding to bid
Members heard that previous supply requirements, compliance, and financial viability assessments are expected to form part of the qualification process. Fiona also highlighted the importance of understanding whether your business can meet the mandatory criteria before investing time in a submission.
3. Take time to understand the pricing model
The session also explored how the proposed pricing model is expected to work and why recruitment firms should carefully consider management fees and other associated costs when calculating their pricing. Understanding how the model operates before the tender is released will help businesses prepare a commercially sustainable submission.
4. Employment reforms will require recruitment firms to review their processes
Belinda provided an update on the Government's consultation covering guaranteed hours, shift cancellations, and changes to agency worker rights. While the legislation is still being consulted on, members were encouraged to start reviewing workforce models, contracts, systems and record keeping, so they are better prepared for future changes.
5. Make your voice heard through the consultation
The session closed with a reminder that the Government consultation remains open until 25 August. Members were encouraged to submit their own responses and share practical examples of how the proposals could affect healthcare recruitment, helping to ensure the realities of the sector are reflected as the legislation develops.
