APSCo Southeast Asia expands presence in Malaysia

The Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo), has expanded its reach across Southeast Asia, with the launch of APSCo in Malaysia.

Announced at an invitation-only event hosted at the British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (BMCC) in Kuala Lumpur, the step marks a continuation of the trade body’s growth in support of its members across Southeast Asia.

The event included presentations from APSCo Trusted Partner, Rajah & Tann, one of Southeast Asia’s largest full-service law firms, on key regulatory compliance that staffing firms need to be aware of. Richard Colley, Director of Trade and Investment at the British High Commission also spoke about the opportunities for recruitment businesses in Malaysia.

Ann Swain Global CEO at APSCo comments:

The staffing market in Malaysia currently presents a wealth of opportunities for our members both in Southeast Asia and across the globe. The country is currently experiencing economic growth, with latest figures suggesting a 3.6% boost to the local economy. This naturally means more jobs and more active hiring, which our members are extremely well placed to support on. There are, however, nuances in the compliance landscape and I’d like to thank Rajah & Tann for sharing recommendations on how to tackle these with our members. I’d also like to thank the British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce for hosting our first official event in Malaysia.

Sally Raj, APSCo Southeast Asia (Malaysia) Chair, added:

I’m delighted to be involved in the expansion of APSCo Southeast Asia into the Malaysian market. Many of our members and Trusted Partners in the region already have or are planning to increase their presence in the country, so this marked a natural move for APSCo. I’m looking forward to working closely with everyone as we continue to extend our support, resources and connections across the region.
