What we do

We are APSCo UK – the only UK recruitment trade body with an international footprint and the only UK recruitment trade body specifically representing those firms operating within the professional sectors.

From start-ups to multinational operators, we represent your best interests by providing you with information, guidance, lobbying, opportunities and support to ensure that you become – and remain – successful, knowledge-rich and compliant.

Since our inception in 1999, we have evolved into the voice of the professional recruitment sector delivering quality services with high energy and which have a real impact on the firms we represent.

The APSCo story so far

We have been representing professional recruiters since 1999. Originally formed as atsco (The Association of Technology Staffing Companies) to provide a separate voice for recruitment firms in the IT sector, it became evident after a number of lobbying wins that other professional recruiters wanted the distinctive voice and specialist support of a dedicated trade body and so atsco became APSCo (The Association of Professional Staffing Companies) in 2009.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Our approach to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is based on our core values of respect, integrity, relationships, thought leadership and success.

Charitable giving: Since 1999, we have raised over £2m for the NSPCC to support vulnerable children across the UK and are now also supporting St Ann's Hospice in Manchester and St Christopher's Hospice in London. APSCo’s Annual Charity Balls have been running for over 15 years. Every year this special event has a different theme and is attended by over 400 guests from across the recruitment sector.

Promoting Equity, Diversity & Inclusion
: In 2021, we launched APSCo Embrace, our Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Resource Hub. This provides a broad range of guidance, expert advice, and practical information designed to help develop your understanding of ED&I and enhance your work in this area.

Promoting a flexible labour market
: All of our activity is designed to promote a strong, flexible and professional labour market. Every year, our members place thousands of candidates into work.
