A new Voluntary AI Safety Standard was released together with the Proposals Paper. The Standard is a stopgap with immediate effect to give businesses practical guidance and certainty on implementing best practice ahead of legislation to implement mandatory guardrails (unlikely until early 2025).
The Standard will be updated over time in line with changes in best practice - in step with similar actions in the EU, Japan, Singapore and the US. The announcements on the Guardrails Proposals and Voluntary Standard round out 12 months of consultation and a 7-month Government AI Expert Advisory Group process.
