Cashflow, chasing and getting paid: What are we seeing right now?

Matt Moorton, Solicitor, recLAW

Cashflow pressure is being felt across the recruitment sector, and it’s changing how clients behave when it comes to paying invoices. Delays are becoming more common, disputes are being raised later in the process, and what used to be routine credit control is starting to feel less effective.

This session focuses on what credit controllers are seeing right now, creating safe space to share real experiences, challenges, and patterns emerging across the market. From slower payment cycles to more tactical pushback on fees, the discussion will explore how these behaviours are impacting collections and what can be done to respond effectively.

Led by Matt Moorton, and supported by Barry Cullen, the session brings a practical legal perspective to the conversation. Together, they work closely on recruitment disputes and debt matters, supporting clients through the complexities of getting paid and ensuring cases progress efficiently and successfully.

This session is aimed at credit controllers within recruitment businesses who are navigating shifting payment behaviours and want to sense-check what they’re seeing, learn from others in the room, and leave with practical ways to adapt their approach in the current market.
