Meeting Agenda

The ICO have recently published a paper on Automated Decision Making (ADM) in Recruitment alongside draft guidance and a consultation document.

ICO consultation on the draft guidance about automated decision-making, including profiling | ICO

This follows APSCo’s member webinar with the ICO last year which fed into their paper.

The Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 has expanded the use of ADM, by allowing legitimate interests as a lawful basis for using ADM in data processing. However, our recent Recruitment Transformation reports on AI highlighted member preference for some level of meaningful human oversight of ADM. This sits alongside job seeker concerns of being interviewed by “AI robots” as picked up in the press following CV Library’s recent report.

This is critical to the sector’s future as identified in our Business Transformation Zone so members need to be heard by the ICO and wider government.
