Government Consults on Revised Fire and Rehire Code of Practice

The Government has launched a consultation on a revised Code of Practice on Dismissal and Re-engagement, commonly known as ‘fire and rehire’, to reflect upcoming changes under the Employment Rights Act 2025.

The reforms, which have been delayed from January to March 2027, will make it automatically unfair to dismiss employees for refusing certain contractual changes, including reductions to pay, changes to working hours, leave entitlements and pensions, unless a limited exemption applies.
