New tertiary model aiming at skills crisis
Skills minister Brendan O’Conner is considering state government proposals for six new TAFE Centres of Excellence that he wants to spurn a new collaborative approach to tertiary education amid the worst skills crunch in decades.
The centres – part of a new five-year National Skills Agreement struck last year – will include at least one university and TAFE working together with industry partners and skills councils to educate people in areas of areas of high skills needs like clean energy, emerging technology and care.
