Diversification – a route to growth and long-term sustainability or a high-risk strategy in an uncertain market?

The UK economy in 2025 is shaping up to be one of very low, if non-existent growth, and the Government’s legislative agenda in terms of the labour market is causing further uncertainty amongst the end client community.  Couple that with the unpredictable global market that we are facing, and it is unsurprising that this is looking to be a very challenging year for UK professional recruitment.

In surveying our members regarding what they want from APSCo this year advice and guidance on service diversification and market expansion came out on top.  So in our next APSCo Disrupt meeting we will be discussing the risks and rewards of diversifying into new business sectors, services, and geographies or whether in this extremely unpredictable market recruiters should be focused on increasing the value of the services they currently provide in markets they understand.

We bring together experts who believe that top performance comes from diversification into new markets and higher margin business, whether that be through geographical expansion or growing into new sectors.  They will be challenged by experts who believe that now is not the time to take on the high risk strategy of moving into brand new markets, with the very real threats of high set up costs and over-extension, when there is still good business to be won in making the most of your current expertise, adding value to your clients and moving your recruitment services up the value chain.

In a style change for APSCo Disrupt we will be running this session in small peer to peer discussion groups, following an introduction from our member experts.
