Melanie is a lawyer with over 20 years' experience specialising in corporate, property and employment taxes. Melanie has worked in both law and accounting firms and advises businesses and their owners on a wide range of tax issues, whether arising out of their daily business activities or as a result of specific transactions they are considering.
Melanie provides tax advice and drafts legal documentation required in relation to share sales (tax warranties and tax covenant and structuring of sale or purchase), asset sales, joint ventures, corporate restructurings, demergers and liquidations.


She also deals with a wide range of property transactions (whether land is purchased for development, investment or occupation, residential or commercial), for example advising on SDLT, VAT and capital allowances implications on sale/purchase of freeholds, let freeholds, grants, assignments, renewals of leases and development structures.
Other areas of expertise include dealing with general corporate tax and VAT issues and advising on business structure. She also handles general employment tax issues (including for non-executive directors, personal service companies and employee terminations) and tax efficient remuneration and availability of reliefs for shares (such as EIS, SEIS, Entrepreneur's Relief and Investor's Relief)


Clients include private and public companies, public bodies and the not for profit sector, along with their directors, shareholders and management teams.

Nathan is a Corporate Tax specialist having over 15 years' experience of advising clients on their tax affairs.  He has established himself as a trusted adviser to a range of clients advising on all aspects of business and real estate taxation.


On the corporate side, Nathan advises on the tax and structuring elements of mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity and investment transactions, financing arrangements and funds establishment. He acts for corporates, entrepreneurs, owner managed businesses, charities, management teams and the public sector, providing transactional support as well as delivering strategic tax advisory work.


Nathan is a specialist in real estate tax and he is regularly involved in advising on stamp duty land tax (SDLT), VAT and the direct tax aspects of complex and structured real estate investment and development. He works regularly with clients and colleagues in identifying tax risks and mitigating tax costs where appropriate in respect of real estate funds, regeneration projects, collective investment and property joint ventures.
