APSCo Update - Employment Rights Bill and Harassment

The Employment Rights Bill aims to strengthen collective redundancy rights and protections and build on the existing legislation by:

  • doubling the maximum period of the collective redundancy protective award; and
  • creating a new threshold taking into account the employees made redundant across the employer’s organisation.

APSCo has produced an update to help you understand these changes. You can access it on our Employment Rights Bill hub

W/C 7th July
1) Employment Rights Bill - Implementation Roadmap

On 1 July 2025, the Government unveiled its roadmap for the implementation of its Employment Rights Bill.
The roadmap provides clarity for workers and businesses on when and how the Government will engage and consult on those details. It also outlines when we can expect different parts of the Bill to start coming into effect, allowing businesses to plan ahead.

The Employment Rights Bill roadmap is accessible here.

2) Updated Home Office Rights to Work Guidance – Digital Verification Service Checks

The Home Office has updated its right to work guidance, making digital checks for British and Irish passport holders clearer and easier to follow.

While using a certified Digital Verification Service (DVS) isn’t mandatory yet, it soon will be. Employers must now use online checks for expired BRPs, and asylum seekers can volunteer but can only do paid work if given specific permission.
